[INFOGRAPHIC] Stop Drinking Bland Coffee – 5 Ingredients To Spice Up Your Cup of Coffee

Coffee and Health

Making coffee is the first thing that millions of people do in the morning! It’s a small ritual to brighten your day, get rid of negative energy, and prepare for new challenges.

But not every morning coffee has to be the same. Sometimes it’s good to experiment and try out new things – the same goes for coffee.

Let’s take a look at some ingredients (and spices, oh yeah) that you can add to your coffee for a unique flavor.

Time to spice things up!

1. Cinnamon

  • It smells delicious
  • It is a powerful antioxidant
  • It tastes great

What more could you want from an everyday household ingredient?

Not only does cinnamon taste great, but it’s also a fantastic replacement for sugar, which many people tend to avoid when drinking coffee or other beverages.

Sprinkle ½ tsp. on top of your coffee, and you’re good to go!

2. Sugar Foam (Espumita)

If you love trying new things, then you’ll love sugar foam, or espumita, in your morning cup of coffee.

It is regular sugar that is then specially prepared, but it is definitely worth it!

You will need a few things:

  • Moka pot or espresso machine
  • High-quality ground Cuban coffee
  • Sugar!

You can buy ground coffee at the grocery store or online, but make sure it is Cuban! – only this blend of coffee will do the trick.

Check out this article we wrote a while back. There you can find a step-by-step guide to making a fantastic espumita.

3. Coconut milk

Maybe you’ve heard of this before.

If you like milk in your morning coffee, but you’re avoiding dairy, coconut milk is the way to go.

Coconut milk has a lot of benefits, but to name a few:

  • It’s plant-based
  • It has a rich flavor
  • It’s low calorie
  • It’s a great alternative to milk

4. Ice cream

Warning! Not for sugar addicts!

This can be tricky – once you start drinking coffee with ice cream, it’s easy to turn it into a habit!

We know ice cream is delicious, but when mixed with coffee… it’s a whole new experience.

The combination of hot and cold will make your senses tingle like never before. We recommend drinking it in the summer, possibly on the beach with friends.

5. Honey

Last but not least, honey. This natural ingredient is known for its sweetness. It will definitely change the way your coffee tastes, so be sure to add just a ½ tsp. at first – you don’t want to overdo it on the first try.

Unlike artificial sweeteners, honey contains vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, so it is a great way to sneak in an extra dose of healthy nutrients throughout the day.

The bottom line

If you are ready to shake up your morning routine, start by adding these ingredients to your coffee. Of course, this list is not exhaustive.

Many other flavors work well with coffee such as: butter, cardamom, vanilla extract, cocoa, chocolate… The list goes on and on.

Try them out and let us know what flavor you liked best!
